What is the Discipleship Journey? What does it look like to get started?
The Discipleship Journey is comprised of discipleship groups of three or four men who agree to get together for two years to mature as disciples of Jesus and disciple-makers. The personal discipleship relationships they form with each other are focused on the gospel, meaningful friendships, and multiplication.
Although Jesus and Paul started intentional, personal discipleship relationships thousands of years ago, our chapter in the story started a dozen years ago with three guys meeting at a McDonald’s and now involves many men from different churches meeting all over St. Louis and beyond.
We use one of three different tracks three times a month and Discipleship Journey Guides by various authors once a month.
Some of our discipleship groups meet at the same time and place as other groups, which we call “hubs.” Every week at these hubs, there is an optional fifteen-minute Equipping Time beforehand for additional disciple-making vision and training.
Whether you would like to join others who are already on the Discipleship Journey, get started with your own friends, or have questions, let us know!
Or, would you’d be interested in starting a discussion about the variety of ways your church can take steps forward with disciple-making?
The Ten Things to Help You Get Started document is a good overview of the nuts and bolts of the Discipleship Journey. We also suggest that you read it aloud together the first time your Discipleship Journey group gets together.
